Kicking and Screaming Non-Stop

Patrícia S.

Early in my school life, my parents would take me to school and wait with me at the school yard until the gates closed. As soon as they closed, I would cry, kicking and screaming non-stop. It went on like that until I was 8 or 9. The principal would call them: “You need to come and get her, because she’s crying herself sick.” I flunked several times because of that. My psychologist believes that happened because of the adoption, because I was taken away from my mom, or because I was afraid I’d lose my parents as well.
